These Aldi Poems are sure to make you LOL!
Yeah, yeah, we know. It’s October 3. Mean Girls Day.
But unless you’re battling someone else in the middle aisle for that last Aldi wine advent calendar, there’s nothing mean about our beloved Aldi.
But in the UK, October 3 is National Poetry Day. The event is always designated on a Thursday in late September or early October. It’s a day to put the focus on poetry in schools, and teach about the beauty of the English language.
In the United States, we celebrate National Poetry Month in April.
National Poetry Day was created in 1994, and this year, Aldi UK decided to get in on the action.
On the Aldi UK Twitter account, the supermarket chain’s social media gurus posted the following:
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
You didn’t choose the Aldi life,
The Aldi life chose you.
Pretty good, isn’t it?
So then, of course, Aldi UK asked followers to get in on the game, by composing their own Aldi-inspired poetic creations.
And Aldi customers? Well, the Aldi UK customers really came through on this challenge.
The customer Aldi poems were all over the map. Here’s a simply little rhyme:
i am not rude
please give me some food— Lorraine from the London area (@FromLondonArea) October 3, 2019
And then there’s this devoted Aldi follower, who wrote several stanzas for his poem about our beloved retailer:
But no, my tent will do just fine
My garden borders need no twine
My pan cupboard needs no new metal
I have a digital display kettleIt’s times like this, requiring strength
Resolve is pushed to greatest length
a challenge continuing to beguile:
Not buying from the Middle Aisle— Richard Hancock (@CanaryWorf) October 3, 2019
This Twitter follower also mentioned the delights of the Aldi Aisle of Shame, which folks in the UK refer to as “the middle aisle.”
Roses are red,
Egypt has the Nile,
If you have a tenner,
can we visit the middle isle?— TheFallenAssassin (@jvincent16_) October 3, 2019
Or there’s this middle aisle tribute Aldi poem, complete with a GIF! Boom!
this is a poem that will make you smile it’s about the offers in the middle aisle pic.twitter.com/jHAeGwfRbj

And it would not be an Aldi Twitter thread without at least one reference to the cashiers — more specifically to their fast, efficient, mysterious ways …
Rose are red,
Violets are blue,
I can’t do poems,
Can you ask Susan to stop scanning my items at 100 mile an hour please ????????♂️— gandalph (@Gru08735773) October 3, 2019
We love the sentiment, but we’re missing the rhyme.
And then there’s this guy, who gets bonus points simply for using the word garrulity in his Aldi poem. We had to look it up!
I could go on with some garrulity,
but never about Aldi’s quality.
The only fact, you’ll be wanting more,
from the back wall, to the front door.
Great prices and even better staff,
everything sorted, so you don’t have to faff.
So stop being tardy,
and go shop at Aldi!— FairFight14????#PLAYExpoBlackpool (@FairFight14) October 3, 2019
And when we did look up garrulity, well, we realized that this whole post basically meets the definition of “going on excessively about trivial matters.” That’s us in a nutshell!
Time to start working on our Aldi poems for April’s National Poetry Month in the U.S. See ya in the Aisle of Shame!
