October is when Costco resets the warehouse. Summer inventory is being cleared at .97 prices, Halloween candy is on a countdown to the end of the month, and a long list of products that quietly left shelves earlier this year is not coming back at all.
Here is what is actually disappearing right now, what just returned, and the handful of deals that end on October 18.
How to Spot an Item That Is Not Coming Back
Costco tells you more than most shoppers realize, right on the price tag:
- A price ending in .97 means the item is on clearance and the buyer is moving out remaining stock.
- An asterisk in the top right corner of the tag means Costco will not reorder it. When the current stock sells, it is gone.
- Prices ending in .00 or .88 are a manager markdown, usually the last call before the item leaves the floor.
A .97 price with an asterisk is the strongest signal on the floor. If you want it, buy it on that trip.
15 Costco Finds Disappearing Right Now
1. Kirkland Signature Ground Sirloin and Loin of Beef Patties
These 85 percent lean patties vanished from cases around spring and have not come back. Beef prices are up sharply year over year, and lean beef has been one of the hardest categories for Costco to hold at a Kirkland Signature price.
2. Carbone Vodka Sauce (Original)
The original jar has been dropped. The spicy version is still on shelves and outsold it badly, which is the usual reason a flavor in a line disappears.
3. Carbone Cacio e Pepe Alfredo
Part of the same Carbone cut. Once your warehouse sells through, it is not being replaced.
4. Carbone Roasted Garlic Alfredo
The third Carbone sauce to go this year. The marinara and spicy vodka are the survivors.
5. Kirkland Signature Toscano Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Discontinued in July. This was one of the better value olive oils in the warehouse, and the Kirkland Signature Italian and Greek bottles are now the ones to look for.
6. Baena Extra Virgin Olive Oil
The Spanish bottle left at the same time as the Toscano. Olive oil pricing has been volatile for two straight seasons.
7. Kirkland Signature Organic Dried Pineapple Tidbits
Gone as of September. The dried mango and the organic raisins are still in the aisle.
8. Great Range Ground Bison
Pulled around June. Shoppers who relied on it for leaner burgers have been pointing to the ground beef and ground turkey as the closest swaps.
9. Kirkland Signature Organic Soy Milk
Costco confirmed this one was dropped for slow sales, with a branded soy beverage rotating in later.
10. Kirkland Signature Sport Drink
Hard to find for months, and warehouse staff have been confirming it is done. The Kirkland Signature hydration sticks have taken over that spot.
11. Kinder’s Organic Hickory Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce
A summer casualty, cleared to make room for the fall sauce set.
12. Spanglish Asadero Chile Verde
Released around Cinco de Mayo and gone by the end of summer. This is a good example of a limited run that never gets a second printing.
13. Kirkland Signature Côtes de Provence Rosé
The rosé is a seasonal listing every year. Once the fall wine set lands, it is finished until spring.
14. Pepsi Soda Shop Favorites
Dropped this year after a soft run. Costco also moved its food court fountain back to Coca-Cola products after 13 years with Pepsi.
15. Food Court Calzone
Retired mid-year and replaced by chicken strips. The hot dog and the $1.49 twisted churro are safe.
Clearing Out Right Now: Summer Stock at .97
The current online markdown list is almost entirely summer and patio inventory, which is exactly what you expect in the first half of October:
- Tommy Bahama 8-foot water hammock, $99.97 (from $199.99)
- Agio Liberty Grove outdoor sofa with storage, $499.97 (from $1,249.99)
- Portofino airlift barstools, 2-pack, $139.97 (from $279.99)
- H2OGO inflatable family lounge pool, $14.97 (from $59.99)
- Vacation classic whip sunscreen mousse 2-pack, $16.97 (from $34.99)
- Resort beach towels, 2-pack, $24.97 (from $36.99)
None of this is coming back before spring. If the patio set or the sunscreen is something you buy every year, this is the window.
10 Costco Favorites That Just Came Back
1. Twisted Churro — $1.49
Back on the food court menu after a two-year absence. It is not the original straight churro, but the line at the counter says nobody minds.
2. Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Pie — around $7.45, 58 oz
The annual anchor of the bakery case. Nearly four pounds of pie for well under ten dollars, and it holds in the refrigerator for days.
3. Kirkland Signature Pumpkin Cheesecake
Back in the bakery case with the whipped topping already on it. It sells out faster than the pie most weeks.
4. Kirkland Signature Beef Chili
The refrigerated tub is back for the season, topped with shredded cheese and ready to heat.
5. Kirkland Signature Caramel S’mores Clusters
Graham cracker pieces in caramel and marshmallow under milk chocolate. This was a quiet hit last year and it returned early.
6. Pumpkin Streusel Muffins — $6.99 for 8
The bakery turns these out all month. They freeze well, which is the only way most households finish eight of them.
7. Kirkland Signature Cherry Berry Sourdough Bread With Pecans
A fall bakery loaf that keeps showing up in carts. Good toasted with butter, better as French toast.
8. King’s Hawaiian Cinnamon Soft Swirl Bites
A newer arrival that has turned into a repeat buy. The tub disappears quickly at warehouses that carry it.
9. Noosa Whole Milk Yoghurt Fall Variety Pack
The seasonal pack is back and includes an apple pie flavor this year.
10. Granny Smith Apples
Three and four pound bags are stacked again for baking season. Tart and firm enough to hold up in a pie.
Deals That End October 18
The current member-only specials run through October 18, and the Halloween candy is on the clock after that:
- Haribo Happy Mix, $9.99
- Hershey’s assorted bar variety pack, $19.99
- Halloween and Day of the Dead treat towers, $28.99
Candy that does not sell by October 31 goes to markdown, so the choice is a better price in November or the flavors you actually want this month.
Prices and availability vary by warehouse and change quickly. Items marked .97 with an asterisk are the ones to decide on while you are standing there.
