Christkindl Gluhwein is a German mulled wine arriving in Aldi stores now!
If we had to pick just one time of year we love to shop at Aldi, it would have to be the Christmas season. The fun selection of Aldi advent calendars would be enough to pull us in by themselves. But then comes the wide selection of holiday treats!
Imported cheese, chocolates, and nuts. Perfectly spiced cookies. Stollen bites. Gluhwein.

German Mulled Wine
Gluhwein is a traditional Christmas treat in Bavaria. Red wine is heated and simmered with cinnamon sticks, citrus slices, cloves, and sugar to pick up the extra flavors. This mulled wine is served hot as an indulgent, warming drink.
Christkindl Gluhwein is a bottled version of the traditional Christmas wine cocktail – you just heat and serve.
Christkindl Gluhwein at Aldi
Aldi stores in the United States carry this ready-to-drink mulled wine, which is imported straight from Germany.
It is available in 1-liter bottles. We have seen this Christmas wine on Aldi shelves as early as October and into November…but it tends to disappear quickly around the holidays. So, we definitely recommend buying it when you see it.
How Much Does Aldi Christmas Wine Cost?
At an Illinois store, this wine was spotted selling for $4.99. As you probably know, though, that price will vary widely. The reason Aldi’s beer and wine prices vary so much is because the taxes imposed on alcohol sales are different from city to city, and from state to state.
Why Can’t I Find this Wine in my Aldi Store?
Unfortunately, not all Aldi stores carry beer and wine. Contrary to popular belief, Aldi doesn’t just pick and choose where to sell wine and beer. The company says it would like to sell these products everywhere. However, you have to have a special license to sell wine and beer in the U.S., and the laws on who can have those vary from city to city and state to state, just like those pesky taxes.
I have tried it and I love it. My store in Virginia sells it for $4.99 bottle

Purchased the German Gluhwein @$4.99 a bottle in the Chicagoland area.
Warmed and served out of a crockpot. It kept a perfect low warm temperature for serving.
Flavor was not strong or spicy. Actually, I added six whole cloves, two cinnamon sticks and a couple orange slices to bring the flavor out more. Delicious!
Will try the Cherry Gluhwein offered next at Aldi’s for $5.99 a bottle. Apparently, it must be a favorite, because it stays out of stock.
I love this wine would like to buy my own
Should the the mulled wine be refrigerated after opening?
I never refrigerate, unless I want it chilled for a change!
Tried the Cherry , Apple and Blueberry this X- Mas and loved them too.
[…] have seen margarita wine in the summer and mulled wine just in to for the winter […]
Not a wine drinker but saw the bottle and had to try it. Went back for more. The Blueberry is good as well. Definitely be looking for it next year!
If it will be a week or longer that it will be used up, thinking I should put it in the fridge? Any other thoughts for preserving it until I drink it all up? Trying the Blueberry this time.
