A Walmart Visa Gift Card functions just like any other prepaid Visa debit card.
With this card, you can shop anywhere that accepts Visa debit cards as long as you are shopping within the US or US territories. Walmart Visa Gift Cards do not work internationally.
To use your Walmart Visa Gift Card, simply present it at checkout the way you would with any other debit or credit card. The PIN associated with your card is the last four digits of the 16-digit number on the front of the card.
You can browse Walmart Visa Gift Cards online here. They come in denominations ranging from $25 to $200, plus tax.

Do You Need To Activate Your Walmart Visa Gift Card?
Despite the confusing mix of information available online, Walmart Visa Gift Cards do not require activation, regardless of how you purchase them.
Whether you bought your Visa Gift Card in person at a Walmart store or online on Walmart.com, the card is automatically activated when you purchase it.
However, there are some other types of gift cards and Visa cards available at Walmart that do require activation. These include Walmart MoneyCards (which can be either Visa or Mastercard) and Walmart Gift Cards (which do not have the Visa insignia).

To activate a Walmart Gift Card (only required for cards purchased online), follow the link sent to you via email (for eGift Cards) or call the activation number provided on the front of your physical card if you received it in the mail.
To put it simply–if your card requires activation, there will usually be a sticker with instructions on the front directing you to a toll-free phone number with an automated activation system. The best way to check if the card has been activated is to call this number and follow the prompts. If there is no sticker, it can be assumed that the card is already active.
How To Check Your Balance
To check the balance of your gift card, you can either call the toll-free number listed on the front or back of your card or visit this link.
Either way, you will be asked to provide your card number, security code (found on the back of the card), and the card’s expiration date.
You can also check your balance by visiting any Walmart store location and asking an associate for assistance. They can help you check your balance at a register or at the Walmart Money Center.
If you have any issues checking the balance of your card, contact Walmart directly at 1-888-537-5503.
FAQs
Can you turn a Walmart Visa gift card into cash?
No. Walmart Visa Gift Cards cannot be turned into cash. There are web pages that allow you to sell or trade your Walmart gift cards for cash or other currencies, but it is not a given that these places can be trusted or that they can reliably provide the services they claim to offer.
Do you need to register your Walmart Visa Gift Card?
In some cases, yes. According to WalmartGift.com, gift cards must be registered if you want to shop online. If you purchased your gift card at a Walmart store and you only plan on using it in person, you do not need to register it. However, registering your card is a great way to make things easier for yourself in the event that your card is lost or stolen.
Can you view the transaction history on your Walmart Visa Gift Card?
No. While you can check your current gift card balance here, there does not seem to be a legitimate and affiliated option for checking your transaction history. There are several pages online that claim to offer these services, but none of them seem to be endorsed by Walmart. Be careful, and do not share details like gift card numbers, 3-digit security codes, or expiration dates unless you are entirely sure it is safe to do so. Walmart provides some information on identifying fraud and scam attempts here.
