Target sells three main gift card types–Target GiftCards, prepaid gift card debit cards, and specialty gift cards. Gift cards are available both in stores and online.
Prepaid gift cards at Target come from companies like Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. Specialty gift cards are available from iTunes, Starbucks, Xbox, Apple, Disney, and more.
Target GiftCards can be loaded with any amount between $5 and $500. When shopping online, you can choose to receive your gift card in the mail as a physical gift card, or you can opt to receive it via email or in the Target app as a digital gift card. In stores, gift cards can be found near the registers at the front of the store.

How To Combine Target Gift Cards
If you end up with an abundance of Target GiftCards, don’t worry. You have plenty of options. Target is equipped to accept multiple gift cards as payment per purchase. You can also combine the balance of your Target GiftCards onto one gift card.
Target.com can accept up to 10 gift cards for a single purchase for online purchases. In-store purchases have no limit to the number of gift cards that can be applied to a single purchase.
Although some online sources claim that Target GiftCards cannot be combined with other gift cards at Target, this doesn’t seem to be true. As far as we can tell, you can combine gift cards in any combination you want, as long as all of the gift card types are accepted as payment at Target.
You can also transfer the balance of one Target GiftCard to another. To combine the balances of your Target GiftCards, visit a Target store in person and ask a cashier to help you combine the funds onto one card. Unfortunately, this service is not available online.
Combining Gift Cards In The Target App
To use multiple gift cards at checkout on the Target app, follow these steps…
- Open the app and navigate to your Wallet tab
- Add all of your Target GiftCards to your Target Wallet (they will need to be added one by one)
- Save your settings and carry on with your shopping in the app
- When you reach the checkout stage, you can apply up to 10 gift cards stored in your Target Wallet
Are There Fees?
As far as we can tell, there are no fees associated with using a Target GiftCard. Gift cards purchased at Target do not expire and they do not lose value over time.
The only time you may be charged a fee for a Target GiftCard is when purchasing them online, in which case you will likely be charged shipping if you opt to receive your gift card in the mail.
