Specially Selected Bombe Cakes are available now at U.S. Aldi stores!
So, right off the bat we’re going to tell you we have no idea why Aldi is calling these little cakes “bombes.” As far as we know, bombes are domed ice cream desserts.
That said, we started drooling when we saw these babies on the shelf.
Chocolate Bombe Cake at Aldi
These Specially Selected branded items are shelf stable. At our store, we found them on an end cap with other Specially Selected holiday items, including the specialty crackers, olives and truffles.
These cakes are described as having a melting center. They are similar to the “molten cake” desserts popular at many restaurants.
The directions call for the bombe cakes to be heated, either by microwaving, steaming, or boiling.
Three Flavors of Bombe Cakes
These little pots of deliciousness are available in three flavors:
Chocolate Bombe is described as “a rich chocolate cake with Belgian chocolate chunks and a melting center of chocolate flavored ganache.”
The Brioche & Cranberry with Clementine Sauce Bombe is “a rich butter cake with Brioche crumb, sweetened cranberries and a melting center of clementine sauce.”
The Chocolate & Salted Caramel Bombe is described as “a rich chocolate cake with Belgian chocolate chunks and a melting center of salted caramel sauce.”
Members of our Aldi Aisle of Shame Community on Facebook are raving about these little cakes.
Our favorite comment so far said, “This is almost sensual it looks so good.” Indeed!
Our only issue is that the packaging states very clearly that these are intended to Serve 2. There’s no way we’re sharing!
great but how long do you steam or microwave it, because there is no instructions on the packaging???????
