Types of Umbrellas Available at Costco (with Cost)

There are a million different kinds of umbrellas out there. From your basic single-person rain umbrellas to large mobile patio umbrellas, Costco has you covered.

Today we’ll go through the full list of umbrellas offered at Costco and on Costco.com.

Costco carries the following types of umbrellas:

  • Golf umbrellas
  • Beach umbrellas
  • Patio umbrellas
  • Lighted patio umbrellas

Costco Umbrella

It’s important to note that while a different company called Cosco produces and sells an umbrella stroller, Costco Wholesale does not currently sell any umbrella strollers.

In fact, as far as I can tell, Costco does not currently sell any baby strollers at all, at least not online or at most Warehouse locations. Costco has been known to sell strollers in the past, though, so keep your eye out for potential new offerings in the future.

That said, Costco Canada is currently listing three different strollers on their website, all of which feature shade coverings.

Patio Umbrellas, Stands, and Bases

When shopping on Costco.com, you’ll find a few other products under the umbrella tag as well, including patio umbrella covers and bases, as well as beach umbrellas.

The patio umbrellas currently for sale on Costco.com are produced by SunVilla and Seasons Sentry.

If you’re shopping for a beach umbrella, you can find this 8′ Tommy Bahama beach umbrella for $49.99 on Costco.com now. This is currently the only beach umbrella being sold by Costco.

Costco.com offers several options for patio umbrella stands and bases, including this rolling base from ShadeMobile for $159.99.

The other stands and bases are produced by SunVilla and OVE. Prices for these bases range from $94.99 for a basic SunVilla Barrack umbrella base to $159.99 for the ShadeMobile rolling base.

Costco also sells vinyl patio umbrella covers from Seasons Sentry to help you protect your umbrella from the elements when it’s not in use. Depending on the size, these covers range in price from $27.99 to $42.99.

All of Costco’s patio umbrellas are made using Sunbrella fabric, which is proven to be particularly resistant against stains, light damage, and other weather-related issues that can degrade the quality of outdoor items.

Lighted Patio Umbrellas

One of the coolest things currently available at Costco is their lighted patio umbrella. In fact, Costco is currently selling two different LED patio umbrellas–one from Seasons Sentry and another from SunVilla.

The 11′ SunVilla color changing LED cantilever umbrella comes with a rolling base and is priced at $849.99 on Costco.com. The built-in LED lights are solar powered and rechargeable, and the umbrella can rotate 360°. This is currently the top of the line as far as Costco’s patio umbrellas go.

The Seasons Sentry solar LED cantilever umbrella is 10′ wide and does not come with a rolling base. It can also rotate 360° like the SunVilla umbrella, and it can tilt up to 70°. Its built-in lighting system is also solar powered and rechargeable. This umbrella is currently available for $699.99 on Costco.com.

As you may have heard, Costco used to offer another LED patio umbrella from SunVilla, their 10′ Solar LED Market Umbrella. These umbrellas were sold by Costco between December 2020 and May 2022. Unfortunately, 400,000 umbrellas had to be recalled after they began bursting into flames. While only five incidents of fire were reported, the wholesaler recalled the item and the manufacturer updated their design to increase safety.

The SunVilla Cantilever umbrella is an updated (and hopefully much safer) version of the Market umbrella.

Golf Umbrellas

Golf Umbrellas

Although it’s not available online, Costco Warehouse locations are currently selling a 5′ wide Vortex golf umbrella from ShedRain for just $18.99.

This umbrella is wide enough to shield three people from the rain, and it’s made with Nanoskin water resistant fabric and a fiberglass shaft. In other words, it’s both lightweight and effective at keeping you dry.

This umbrella has an automatic opening feature, making it quick and easy to use when you need it.

Costco previously sold a two pack of these vented rain umbrellas on Costco.com. However, they are now out of stock.

Out of Stock Items

Costco is one of the most popular stores in the world, so it’s no surprise that some of their popular items go out of stock from time to time.

Costco was recently selling a two pack of brightly colored ShedRain vented compact umbrellas, but they have since gone out of stock. It’s not clear if Costco plans to restock this item any time soon.

Another umbrella item Costco has sold in the past was their 10′ ProShade auto tilt aluminum patio umbrella. Unfortunately, this umbrella is also out of stock currently. Try checking back in the spring to see if supplies have been replenished.

Installing Your Costco Patio Umbrella

How to install your Costco patio umbrella will depend on which umbrella you buy. Because they’re made by different manufacturers, the installation instructions will vary.

Here’s a video from SunVilla explaining how to assemble their 10′ patio umbrella.

And here’s a video from Melanie Anne Home Life explaining how to set up the 11′ Seasons Sentry umbrella.

Whenever you’re assembling an item for the first time, be sure to read the instructions that came with it very carefully before starting. Watching these videos can help, but you should also read the manufacturer’s instructions to make sure you’re not missing any important details.

If you purchased a base for your umbrella that was not included in the original package, please reference the instructions that came with your umbrella base.

Opening and Closing the Umbrella

As with assembly, how to open and close your patio umbrella will depend on which umbrella you purchased.

When you watch through the recommended assembly instruction videos, you will be guided through exactly how to open and close your umbrella.

How To Tilt, Rotate, or Remove Your Umbrella

It’s important to remember that not all patio umbrellas sold at Costco are designed to tilt. Make sure to reference the instructions provided with your umbrella to learn more.

Umbrellas that are designed to tilt typically have a button or joint located about one foot down from the uppermost point of the umbrella. Find this spot and reference your product instructions for more information about how to operate your umbrella’s tilting feature.

Similarly, rotating your umbrella will depend on how your umbrella is constructed. Some umbrellas can be rotated simply by pushing them in one direction or another, while other umbrellas are locked in a certain position and will need to be unlocked to rotate. Reference your product instructions to learn more about how to rotate or tilt your umbrella.

If you’re ready to remove your umbrella at the end of the season, simply reverse the steps you followed for assembly, then store your umbrella in a dry place. If your umbrella has gotten wet or gathered outdoor debris, it’s a good idea to clean it off and let it dry completely before storing to prevent mold growth and insect damage.

Costco is generally considered one of the best places to buy outdoor furniture and patio equipment such as patio umbrellas. Their prices are competitive, the quality of their products is considered quite high, and their return policy is impossible to beat.
