10 Trader Joe’s Products Disappearing In 2023

One of the reasons Trader Joe’s is so popular is because they introduce so many new products every year. But the flipside of this is that they also have to discontinue at least as many items as they introduce.

Discontinued Trader Joe’s products have gained a lot of attention over the years. Customers have started petitions to try to get their favorite products brought back, often to no avail. There’s even an Instagram page entirely dedicated to tracking which TJ’s products are headed for the chopping block.

Here, we’ll dive into the products most recently discontinued by Trader Joe’s. Several of these products were technically discontinued in 2022. But remaining supplies have kept some customers from noticing until now.

1) Corn Poblano Chowder

First spotted as a soon-to-be-discontinued item in early January, this popular corn chowder was loved among TJ’s shoppers. In fact, some Reddit users have called this stuff Trader Joe’s “only good soup.”

That said, it clearly wasn’t loved by all, because Trader Joe’s has decided they’re better off without it.

This is TJ’s most recently announced “disco” item, so there’s a pretty good chance you can still find it on shelves until supplies run out. Each 17-oz box costs just $1.99. Get it while you can! 

2) Savory Banana & Nuts Trek Mix

Another recent disco item, this Savory Banana & Nuts Trail Mix was announced for discontinuation just after the New Year, and shoppers aren’t too happy.

Apparently it was first released as a new item in 2020, and it only lasted three years before TJ’s decided to cut it from their inventory.

Not everyone is upset though. Some users on Reddit have called this stuff “gross” and “terrible.” I guess it’s no wonder TJ’s decided to let it go.

3) Incredisauce

Trader Joe’s first launched their Incredisauce less than one year ago to immediate skepticism from shoppers. This stuff was made primarily from sugar, water, and soybean oil, which makes it pretty enormously unhealthy as a condiment. And customers noticed.

In fact, TJ’s locations across the US were giving away this sauce for free at the end of 2022 in an attempt to clear it off their shelves.

4) Organic Smoky BBQ Coconut Aminos

First spotted as a disco item in November, these Smoky BBQ Coconut Aminos are a flavored version of TJ’s regular Organic Coconut Aminos, which are still in circulation.

Interestingly, it seems like customers were even more fond of the Smoky BBQ version, so it’s not entirely clear why TJ’s decided to discontinue it.

5) Pear Halves

These pear halves are yet another well-loved Trader Joe’s product that customers are sad to see go. They’re also one of TJ’s longer-standing products, making it especially sad to say goodbye.

One Reddit user on the same thread suggested that Trader Joe’s unexpected discontinuation choices have been motivated by recent supply chain issues:

6) Butternut Squash Soup

Like the pear halves, this Butternut Squash Soup was also one of Trader Joe’s longest-standing items. While I don’t know the exact date of its release, I remember eating this stuff at least 15 years ago.

Along with the discontinuation of the Corn Poblano Chowder, it seems like Trader Joe’s is clearing out their entire soup section. One can only hope they’re planning on releasing a new line of soups sometime soon.

Alas, all things change… If you’re a butternut squash soup fan, you’ll have to find a different source for it in 2023.

7) Asian Style Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette

This Asian Style Spicy Peanut Vinaigrette was one of Trader Joe’s most popular salad dressings that had been around for quite a few years. Needless to say, some customers are heartbroken to see this stuff go…

8) Cioppino Seafood Stew

First released around 2014, this unique stew has been a fan favorite among shoppers who love seafood for almost a decade.

Despite its Italian-sounding name, Cioppino was first invented on the West Coast of the US as a way of using up all the extra seafood bits at the end of a market day. For fans of this hearty, old-fashioned stew, Trader Joe’s version was delicious and reliable.

Sadly, TJ’s Cioppino Seafood Stew was officially announced for discontinuation in 2022, and the last few bags of it are dwindling in stores now. 

9) Nourish Spa Shampoo and Conditioner

One of Trader Joe’s longest-standing hair care products, the Nourish Spa Shampoo & Conditioner have been popular among TJ’s shoppers for nearly twenty years.

Sadly, 2022 marked the official end of their lifespan. And now, the last of their inventory is disappearing from store shelves everywhere to the horror of faithful shoppers.

10) Nourish Shower & Bath Cleansing Oil

It seems like Trader Joe’s might just be doing away with their entire line of Nourish body products, because the shampoo and conditioner aren’t the only ones disappearing.

This cleansing oil was first announced for discontinuation almost a year ago, so supplies are almost entirely cleared out now. Popular as a dupe for L’Occitane’s Cleansing and Softening Almond Shower Oil, this oil from Trader Joe’s is definitely going to be missed by faithful customers.
